The winner of a Teaching Force free prize draw has generously donated his prize money to Nottingham based charity, Sharewear Clothing Scheme.
George Hagen who has worked for us as a Cover Supervisor was entered into the prize draw after completing our customer survey over the summer.
George became involved with the charity through a family friend and after volunteering for them over the summer he is keen to continue to support the project. Established back in 2014 to help the people in times of crisis, Sharewear operates like a food bank providing emergency clothing, shoes and bedding to people in Nottingham in times of crisis. Located in a former library in Bestwood Park, the scheme operates a strict referral system with many referred by social services to visit their unit. The charity also provides an outreach service supplying referral agencies and their partners with packs of pre-sorted clothing ready to give to those in immediate need.
Thought to be the only project of its kind in the country, the clothing scheme was the brainchild of founder and CEO Louise Cooke, she comments:
“Sadly, there are far too many people in Nottingham living in poverty. Whilst food banks are now commonplace in major cities, we have identified that these same people are also desperate for clothes as well as food and we are attempting to do this for the residents of Nottingham. We were thrilled when Teaching Force contacted us to make the donation on behalf of George. We are self-funded and run part-time by volunteers so in desperate need of financial support to secure our future“
Sharewear is proud to have clothed over 2000 people in Nottingham. If you’d like to find out more about volunteering for the charity or to become a Sharewear referral agency or outreach partner email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.sharewearclothingscheme.org
